Today I made bread rolls, they look yummy and smell yummy but are for tomorrow so it is all very tantalising!
The making is very easy, just add a tablespoon of oil to 500g flour and a teaspoon of yeast, make a well and add warm water a little at a time until you form a dough.
The next bit is slightly harder work, knead for 15-20 minutes until the dough is like putty and easy to stretch. It’s tiring work but just think of the toning it’s doing to the arms!
Then leave to rise for a couple of hours in a warm place. Separate the dough into balls and put on a greased baking tray. Put this in the top oven above the oven which has been turned on to about 180 degrees celcius. Leave to prove for half an hour. Then bake for 15-20 minutes until the colour looks golden and appetising.
For a crunchier crust brush with melted butter before placing in the oven.
Sprinkle seeds on the outside or combine in the dough for a more nutritious bread.
